A New Beginning

Atlanta West Hypnotherapy Clinic does a very specialized type of hypnotherapy, based on the research of Dr. John Kappas. (Kappas (1975). By understanding emotional/physical suggestible behaviors (left/right brain dominant) we are able to tailor the sessions to fit each individual subject.

The conscious part of our mind is estimated to be between one and twelve percent. Our conscious mind deals with our logic, reasoning and will power.

The subconscious part of our mind is estimated to be between 88 to 99 percent. It is responsible for all automatic functions of our body, like breathing. It associates and identifies with the past. It handles our expectations and our imagination.

A happy productive life is everyone’s right. However, problems caused by negative habits and conditioning often prevent us from ever reaching our full potential.

Suppose a person has a problem with self-control and he makes up their mind that they are not going to lose control again. They use the willpower of the conscious mind (that’s 1 to 12%), and for a while they exercise self-control. However at some future time they find themselves in a situation that triggers the subconscious mind (that’s 88 to 99 %) back into action and they lose control again. It is like 1 to 12 horses pulling against 88 to 99 horses. Who is going to win?

People are interested in things they can do to bring about positive changes in their lifestyle. It is a natural and effective process to reach the 88 to 99 percent of the mind. It helps people overcome problems or negative habits in a shorter period of time with less cost than most other therapies and it does not trap people on a merry-go-round that goes on year after year. It may also be a preventive for many problems down the road.

Hypnotherapy is scientifically respected. It is medically and professionally accepted in the United States, England and other countries.

There is nothing supernatural about hypnosis. It is a natural altered state of consciousness that is very restful. People slip in and out of environmental hypnosis all the time. Remember when you were driving your car and your conscious mind was thinking about a problem. You arrived at your destination and you thought, “Did I turn that corner, or was the light green, or how did I get here so fast?” Your conscious mind was on the problem. So who took you where you were going? Your subconscious did. You were in environmental hypnosis.

What Can a Hypnotherapist Do?

A hypnotherapist feeds positive messages into the subconscious mind, helping the client to achieve the positive changes they desire.

How is Hypnotherapy Effective?

It is a valuable tool for many life problems people struggle with. Hypnotherapists work successfully with many problems such as: overeating, stress, insomnia, fears and phobias, smoking, concentration, memory, athletic improvement, self-confidence, career motivation, assertiveness, public speaking, and pain control (with medical referral) and many other problems.

Is Everyone Hypnotized in the Same Way?

No. How clients are hypnotized will depend on the way they learn and take in ideas. There are two ends of the scale. At one end of the scale are the high physical suggestible people. They are the direct, literal learners, and they tend to be right brain oriented. To them, what a person says, a person means. They often choose “people oriented” jobs or careers. They tend to be creative.

On the other end of the scale are the high emotional suggestible people. They are the inferential learners and tend to be left brain oriented. They usually seek a job or career that deals with facts and figures such as engineering or accounting. These people rely not so much on what is said, but what is inferred from what is said. Most people fall somewhere in between these two extremes.

Once a hypnotherapist understands how a person learns, he is able to use that information to give the correct suggestions, therefore, bringing about positive changes in habits and attitudes

Can I Be Hypnotized?

Yes. Suggestibility is the way we learn and take in ideas. The reason someone has a problem is because they are suggestible to it. They learned it and therefore they can unlearn it. Since everyone is suggestible to something, everyone can be hypnotized.

Will I Be Asleep When I Am Hypnotized?

No. Hypnosis does not always feel the way a person expects it to. There are many levels of hypnosis. Sometimes even a shallow state will produce the desired results, depending on what the problem is. Even at deeper levels, a person can talk, hear, move and think. They are not asleep. In fact, they are very aware and alert.

What Length of Time will it take?

The number of sessions depends on the type of problem and the individual’s suggestibility. Most people say that even after the first session, they can tell a difference.

How Does One Choose a Hypnotherapist?

Hypnotherapy is a specialty not to be confused with someone who can hypnotize. Select a hypnotherapist who has been professionally trained at an approved school of hypnotherapy. Ask how many hours of training they have in the field and of course the more the better. Ask about their type of formal training and the range of their skills. Qualified professionals are happy to give this information. Ask, compare and when you have the information you need, then make your decision.

Learning to Learn

You could hold the human brain in the palm of your hand. A computer that would do the things that your brain can do would be a least a hundred stories high and cover the State of Texas. Our minds could not be filled in an entire lifetime. We have tremendous potential and abilities.

Many people develop learning blocks by constantly reinforcing the negative. They may tell themselves that they can not remember anything or that they are not smart enough to learn a subject. The subconscious begins to believe that and it is 88 to 99 percent of our behavior. In hypnotherapy, learning blocks such as those are removed and the client learns to focus their attention better on each task they do. Hypnotherapy is used to improve memory, comprehension and concentration, as well as increase the ability to visualize material studied.

Hypnotherapy is effective in raising confidence, feelings of well being and motivation. Those feelings are closely related to successful accomplishments and self-improvement.

Through Hypnosis you can learn to;

  • think More Clearly.
  • learn to Concentrate Better.
  • get your Memory and Mind working together more efficiently.
  • become more focused on the task at hand.
  • sleep more peacefully, be calmer.
  • be happier.
  • handle every situation more confidently.
